2021 Australian Society of Molecular Imaging Scientific Symposium (21-23 June 2021)

21 Jun 2021

2021 Australian Society of Molecular Imaging Scientific Symposium (ASMI2021) was held via Zoom and in person at the Translational Research Institute (TRI) in Woollongabba, Queensland from Monday 21 to Tuesday 22 June 2021 with a special UQ Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) Workshop on 23 June 2021: https://www.asmi2021.com/

A/Prof Hang T. Ta is the Chair of the Organising Committee. Other committee members are Dr Brian Tse (TRI), Dr Gary Cowin (CAI, UQ), Dr Karine Mardon (CAI, UQ), Dr Noni Creasey (UQ), Dr Run Zhang (AIBN, UQ), Dr Kamil Sokolowski (TRI), Dr Yuao Wu (Griffith University) and A/Prof Xiaowei Wang (Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute).

The symposium brought together researchers from a wide range of disciplines interested in the development and application of multi-modality molecular imaging. There were around 250 researchers and participants from fundamental and applied areas of chemistry, biology, imaging, and clinical research attending the symposium.

In addition to 9 amazing invited national speakers from different career stages (early, middle, late), the symposium also hosted 4 renowned plenary speakers:

  • Prof Liu Bin, National University of Singapore
  • Prof Carolyn Mountford, Queensland University of Technology
  • Prof Kristofer Thuretch, University of Queensland
  • A/Prof Michelle James, Stanford University.

This year, all posters and poster presentations were posted on the virtual poster wall: https://asmi2021.virtualpostersession.org/. Three Oral Presentation Prizes and 4 Poster Presentation Prizes were awarded to ECR and PhD students from all over Australia.
